Texas "Holdem for Hope" Poker Tournament

Kelly Emerson and the Kappa Omega chapter of the ESA organization held the 1st Annual "Holdem for Hope" Texas Holdem Poker Tournament on November 28, 2004. More than 70 people gathered to play poker and support Share, raising over $5,000.00 for the National Share Office.

"I feel that my son Jackson, born still on July 3, 2004, gave me a sign because the Share office is on Jackson Street. The first time I walked into the office I just wanted to pick up brochures for the upcoming "Walk to Remember," but I stayed for over 2 hours talking to Susan. I was touched by her and what Share offers those who have had a loss. I knew I needed to have someone from Share come to our Kappa Omega meeting to talk about Share. I felt I had to find a way to help get Share's name out. It is very important to me that people know about Share because not everyone has the support from friends and family that my husband, Bill, and I have. Share is VERY important to me and my husband. I feel Jackson led me to the Share office that day in August, and gave me the energy to get a team together for the "Walk to Remember," which led to the "Holdem for Hope" tournament and gave me a sense of hope that we can help someone else who has had a painful loss." - Kelly Emerson
