Take me out to the ballgame…
Stacey and Sean Hengst were looking for a way to remember their son Max, who was born still at 26 weeks. They wanted to find a way to not only honor Max, but to raise awareness and money for bereaved parents as well. Max was born in the summer, and being a little boy who they would have been taking to baseball games, they decided to organize an outing to a Philadelphia Phillies game.
They sent out invitations to everyone they knew several months in advance, included a donation envelope, and asked for a few dollars above the price of a ticket. They also asked anyone who could not make it to the game to consider making a donation in Max's memory. They planned to donate a portion of the proceeds to Share. Stacey purchased all of the tickets once she knew how many people wanted them.
Max's night at the ballgame was such a huge success they plan to make it an annual event. 118 people attended! Stacey and Sean raised $1300! They handed out brochures they made with Max's picture, some quotes, and a letter thanking everyone for attending. Since it was a group outing, they were able to get "Max's Family and Friends" in lights on the scoreboard. "It was so beautiful to see his name up there like that for 40,000 people to see." Stacey said.
Thanks so much for your efforts in helping Share!
Stacey and Sean Hengst are parents to Maxwell, born still 6/27/03 and Jason, 5 months.
