How Can I Help?

Often, families, caregivers, and friends of Share who have received Share's help and support want to know what they can do to help the organization. Since Share is a non-profit organization, it is funded through private donations, foundations, fundraisers, and some grants. All of these play a very important role in ensuring that Share can continue to help grieving families. In recent years, the awareness of Share has greatly increased, which means that even more families are now benefiting from Share's services. As the awareness of Share increases, so do Share's needs.

 

How can I donate money to Share?

Donations in memory...

Donations can be made in memory of a baby, in honor of someone, or just as a general donation.  Donations can be made in any amount, and will be acknowledged with a card as well as in our newsletter.  Donations are accepted via mail, phone, or securely online.

Matching Gift Programs...

Many companies have matching gift programs, which means the company will donate the same amount to an organization that the employee donates.  Ask your employer today about their matching gift program!

Sharing Newsletter...

Share publishes a newsletter, Sharing, 6 times per year that is free to bereaved parents for one year.  You can specify that your donation go into the fund that helps cover the cost of these free newsletters.

Internet Fundraising ...

If you are active online and enjoy surfing the net, you could be raising money for Share.  Visit www.goodsearch.com, type in your search, and then type in Share.  You will be able to scroll to Share's name and donate money each time you search online.   What a wonderful and easy way to support Share's bereavement programs!

Can I hold a fundraiser for Share?

Yes, people often hold fundraisers and then send the proceeds to Share in memory of their baby or a loved one's baby. Read the pages listed to the right about what some families have done to raise money for Share and for other ideas on fundraising.

 

What is a Share Ambassador?

The Share Ambassador program was launched in 2005 as a creative way to increase revenues at Share.  To become an Ambassador, a person needs to raise a minimum of $2000.00.  The Ambassadors highlighted to the right took on the challenge, each person creatively and with excitement determined their path to achieve their goal.  As you read the testimonies of our Ambassadors, each person was truly inspired and  devoted to support the mission of Share.  Share is forever grateful to each person for their personal commitment to their ambassadorship!

 

Is the money I donate to Share tax-deductible?

Yes. Share is a not-for-profit 501(c) 3 organization.

 

What will the money I donate to Share be used for?

__________________________________________________________

Money donated to Share is used to support all of our programs for bereaved parents. Donations cover the cost of the packet that newly grieving parents receive free of charge, as well as the cost of maintaining Share's website, message board and chat room, and the free phone support that we provide to parents and caregivers.

 

Are there any other ways I can help Share?

If you have a Share Group in your area, you can call the group leader to see if help is needed with mailings, fundraisers, etc. If you live near the national office in St. Charles, Missouri, there are many volunteer opportunities available. Call the office at 1-800-821-6819 to find out where help is needed.
