Research Opportunity for Grieving Parents

A dissertation project from the Forest Institute of Professional Psychology, a doctoral program, is studying grief and family relationships. Little research has been conducted to look at grief in a family context. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between family functioning and relationships and the individual's personal experiences of the grief process.

It is my hope that information gleaned from this study will benefit the field of grief research in its understanding of how grief influences family relationships.

Study participants must be 18 years or older and have experienced the death of a child at least two years ago. The child must have been between the ages of birth and early twenties. Participants can e-mail their mailing address, and a packet will be mailed to them. The packet will contain a demographics form, including such things as age and sex of the child, and two questionnaires, relating to grief and family relationships. Completion of the forms will take approximately one half hour.

If you are interested in participating in this research study, please contact or send your mailing address to kmaxey@forest.edu

Deadline to participate is March 31st, 2006. Thank you for your participation on this difficult topic.
